I originally bought this Peugeot "Super Competition" PXN-10 for the rear derailleur (a Simplex SLJ6600), but with my PX-10 temporarily out of commission, I decided to send this frame to Rick Stefani of D&D Cycles for a repaint. What I sent was a scratched-up, mass-produced mess; what I got back was absolutely stunning - the decals seemed to float in the clear coat, the lugs were clearly defined, and there is nothing as beautiful in the cycling world as a French frame in metallic burnt orange. Given that this frame was the top-of the line offering by Peugeot at the time, my idea was to have a vintage 1980's ride, without the weight. After I built up the bicycle, I thought the frame was a hair too big for me and that the carbon front-end make the balance strange; however, like anything worth doing in life, it just needed a little bit of work. After a few days adjusting the settings and lightning the undercarriage with titanium and carbon, what I got was a truly exquisite ride. There is just something about magical about that Reynolds 531 tubing and friction downtube shifters - like a 1-2 gear shift in a Honda Prelude Type SH.
