While good camera gear won't make a photographer good, lousy camera gear can seriously hinder the artistic freedom of the photographer. I've owned numerous lenses from my days of e-bay buying & re-selling and for the most part I'm pretty much in agreement with Bjorn Rorslett's assessment to the extent that any further review on my part would seem redundant. For film/FX cameras I usually carry a 28mm, 50mm and a 85/105mm fixed focal length lens. I don't have any really wide angle lenses since I don't like the idea of "perspective cheating" in order to make interesting photographs. Even though I try and focus on composition, framing and exposure, I must admit that I spent a lot of time and had a lot of fun gathering my current camera gear.
